Who We Are

“Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all His energy that He powerfully works within me.”

Colossians 1:28-29

We opened our doors as a church in the year 2010 after having begun our journey as a small Bible study group of 25 young adults in 2007.

With a clear vision and mandate received from God, today we are a church with a vision to become the authentic disciples that Jesus has called us to be and to multiply disciples of the same kind while serving as a catalyst for the Intentional Disciple-making Movement in all nations.

At the Centre Church, our desire is to live out the visible values of Grace, Growth & Godliness in our lives, which are brought forth through the underlying values of Truth centered on the Word of God, Community centered on the Worship of God, Stewardship centered on the Will of God, Balance centered on the Wisdom of God and Brokenness centered on the Way of God, that are at work in us to equip us for God’s glorious purposes.

We believe that disciple-making is the core mission of the Church. We esteem the contextual teaching of the Scriptures and intentional disciple-making as of paramount importance to us as we strive to be disciples of A Certain Kind who can go on to impact the world.

Our Vision

To be an Intentional Disciple Making Church, that multiplies its kind;

and serves as a catalyst for the Intentional Disciple Making Movement in all nations.

Our Mission

We do this through, contextual teaching of God’s Word and Intentional Disciple Making,

so as to reproduce Authentic Disciples of A Certain Kind that can impact the world.

What We Believe

We believe in the inerrancy & infallibility of the Bible, and therefore what we believe are based on its Holy Scriptures. We welcome you to read through at length what we believe about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the death & resurrection of Jesus, and all other significant aspects of our faith. Our beliefs guide our disciplines & decisions as a church.

Our Leadership

Rev. Sherine Kara serves as the Senior Pastor of The Centre Church, along with her husband Ps. Dileepa Anthony. With discipleship being at the core of her heart, her one desire has always been to be an authentic follower of Jesus and to intentionally make disciples who will seek the Lord and obey His ways. Her firm conviction is that a life of obedience speaks much louder than great persuasive words, and that it is exactly what the world out there needs to see.

Though born in Sri Lanka, as a child Rev. Sherine together with her parents & brother, migrated to Canada. Having received a very clear calling from God at the age of 16 to return to Sri Lanka as a minister of the Gospel – Rev. Sherine ceased every opportunity to embrace her calling and prepare herself to return to the land she swore as a child to never return. In the year 1998, she returned to her motherland as a missionary from Canada – sent out by her home church in Waterloo, World Outreach Ministries of Canada.

The then missionary, and professionally qualified trauma counsellor stepped into Sri Lanka bidding farewell to her family in Canada, when Sri Lanka as a nation was at the peak of the then prevailing civil war. It was years later as she served with World Vision Lanka, that she would meet her husband Dileepa, who was the chief internal auditor of World Vision Lanka at that point.  Rev. Sherine Kara, together with her husband Rev. Dileepa were ordained as licensed ministers of the gospel in the year 2009; and they continue to faithfully serve the Lord and His people in Sri Lanka & overseas, to date.
